Lancaster, PA has a long history of welcoming newcomers and has even been labeled America’s “Refugee Capital.” Recently, a public university in Lancaster—Millersville University—signed an agreement with Every Campus a Refuge (ECAR) to host refugees on campus grounds and support their integration into the local community.

Church Congregation Secures Newcomer Housing
A Boston congregation relocated two large Afghan families who had been living in their church basement for two years. The families left Afghanistan as soon as they could after the Taliban took control of the county and, thanks to the pastor and congregation a church in Newburyport, Massachusetts, they found a home at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. While that situation was not ideal, to say the least, the families’ and congregation’s persistence in looking for a better option led to an amazing outcome.
